Packing for Disney

Disney

Packing for Disney with kids is always an adventure in and of itself.  For me, it is usually a week-long process of laundry and well-thought out items.  Here I would like to give you some overall pointers on how to make your trip a little more organized.

1.  This is one of my favorite tools for packing.  You can do it either one of two ways.  You can place everyone's clothes for the day in one bag or you can place each individual's clothes in one bag.  Because we tend to travel in December, and the weather can be different each day, I pack each child's clothes in a bag.

This is helpful because if you stay in a Resort hotel that does not have a lot of storage, it is easier to pick out each child's clothes each day.  I also recycle these by only storing clean clothes.

2.  This collapsible storage box is another helpful idea for when you reach your Resort destination.  Simply place it by your Resort room door and then let the kids place their shoes inside as soon as they return.  This way, once rested and are ready to return to the Parks, you know where to find shoes instead of wasting precious minutes looking under the beds.  It is also a good place for room keys, camera, sunglasses, jackets, etc that need to go back out the door.

3.  If you have small kids, the best thing you can do is to have a label pinned in their clothes.  Disney thankfully has never had a child abducted but kids do get lost.  This way if a Cast Member finds my child, they would know exactly who to contact.  I used my Scotch laminator to make the tags and then pinned them inside with a safety pin.

4.  A wide mouth backpack with lots of different compartments will enable you to store water bottles, light sticks, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, etc.  It also enables security at the gate to go through your items quickly.  Several times we have traveled with a backpack full of  the necessary items to get us through our day in the Parks as smoothly as possible.  A backpack fits easily at your feet while you are on a ride so that your valuables can be kept safe.  We switch off with each other, whoever carries the small child doesn't have to carry the backpack.

5.  Last but not least.....if you have kids, you probably need to think about luggage up on top of the vehicle provided you are driving to Walt Disney World.  A few months prior to our last trip to Disney, I accidentally drove the SUV into the garage with the hard top cargo still attached....oops!  It actually turned out to be a blessing as we like this Keeper Waterproof Rooftop from Amazon even better.  It did not leak in the rain and once we arrived, we were able to unpack it and unfold it and store it inside our car.

So there's my list!  I hope you enjoyed this and I'll be back soon with some actual items to place in your storage and organizational pieces.
